Why an Adventist School may be the Right Place for your Child

Christian Education, from an Adventist perspective, might be described as providing a balanced educational curriculum - in which the character and nature of God are reflected throughout the educational curriculum and its delivery.  Its focus is on creating opportunities to bring each child and young person in its schools into a closer understanding and knowledge of our creator God, and into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. 

Christians of many denominations share in these aspirations and we welcome applications from parents who wish to place their children in a safe, caring, Christian environment. We offer small classes and dedicated teachers;  our pupils have a unique opportunity to develop competency in basic skills and to aim for excellence; to show and develop their leadership skills and to thrive in a caring social community. However attractive these features of our education system might be, our primary purpose is still to make God a real part of the daily lives and world-view of all of our students and to grow worthy citizens who will serve their communities.

Integrated Schools and Special Character

All 16 Adventist Schools in New Zealand are designated Integrated schools, with the State contributing a certain percentage of costs.  Integrated schools are bound to meet the criteria of the State, but are free to create a unique educational environment or Special Character. Each school is governed by a Board of Trustees whose function it is to maintain the Special Character of the School and to meet the criteria which the State sets for its schools. All of our schools undergo regular, rigorous auditing through the national Education Review Office to ensure that the educational facilities, educational standards and governance are maintained, but are also audited by leading Seventh-day Adventist educators to ensure that each school maintains its special character.
